Southport Counsellor

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP),

I offer Person-Centred Counselling, a humanistic approach that places you, your experience, your pace, and your needs at the very centre of the work we do together. Rather than giving advice or trying to diagnose, I offer a warm, genuine, and non-judgemental space where you can begin to make sense of what you’re going through. Person-centred therapy is grounded in the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth, healing, and self-understanding, when given the right conditions.

We believe this approach allows you to explore your feelings openly and safely

without fear of being criticised or misunderstood. As your counsellor, I walk alongside you, offering presence and deep listening, helping you to reconnect with your sense of self, build resilience, and find clarity in what may currently feel confusing or overwhelming. Person-centred therapy respects your autonomy and you decide what we talk about and how far we go. There is no pressure to fit into a model or timeline.

I work with adults who are experiencing a wide range of emotional difficulties, including (but not limited to)

grief and bereavement, anxiety, stress, low self-worth, depression, relationship struggles, identity exploration, childhood trauma, loneliness, and life transitions. I welcome individuals from all walks of life, and work inclusively with people of all genders, sexualities, cultures, and backgrounds.

The length of sessions differs from person to person and it is hard to predict how long counselling will last. Typically therapy sessions occur 1-2 times a week. Counselling, however, is not a quick fix and treatment can take 6 months to a few years.  Most people make improvements in their life after a couple months.

Successful counselling can help you reduce mental and emotional suffering, find greater fulfilment in work and relationships, improve communication and increase self-awareness, transition through major life changes, decrease shame and negative thought loops, overcome trauma and negative consequences of hardships….

Counselling is a type of talking therapy where a trained professional provides a safe and confidential space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Generalized anxiety disorder or GAD is characterized by excessive, exaggerated anxiety and worry about everyday life events. People with symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder tend to always expect disaster and can’t stop worrying about health, money, family, work or school.

Individuals with GAD, the worry often is unrealistic or out of proportion for the situation. Daily life becomes a constant state of worry, fear and dread. Eventually, the anxiety dominates the person’s thinking that it interferes with daily functioning, including work, school, social activities and relationships.
